[D1 LM] Latecomer

[Jerric Mason]

Jay walked into the Pickled Hedgehog in simple but high quality clothes jeans, a plain (if not a bit tight) red shirt, and some black sneakers. He scanned the place an saw it was bumpin, he must be running a bit late as he saw a quite active table over yonder but it seemed a bit too crowded for his taste.

Jay instead wandered over and found an empty table and ordered some eggs and bacon and orange juice from the waitress as he sat back in his chair with one arm slung over the back and just sort of hung out messing around on his phone while he waited for his food.

[Cian]

Dressed in a worn leather jacket and comfortable undershirt combo Cian slipped into the seat across from Jay. Without looking at Jay he slipped over to the inner-most chair and then spun halfway to the table and drummed his hands against it. Finally pulling his eyes off the main section of the diner he looked to Jay across from him.

"Sup," he said, flicking his head back.

[Jerric Mason]

Jay shrugged, locking his phone and slipping it into his pocket "not shit man, just excited to get back into it. You have a good summer?"

[Cian]

"Still here," he said, shifting his body toward the nearest window so he could look out from it. "Counts for something, amiright? "

[Jerric Mason]

Jay chuckled briefly "yeah I suppose it does."

The waitress delivered Jay's order and he smiled wide "you getting anything man? Or did you eat before waiting for the bus in a diner that makes some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had?" He asked with a smirk and quirked eyebrow.

[Cian]

"Nah, I'm good," he said, shuffling his hands into his pockets. Flicking his head up toward Jerric, "So, what'd you do over the summer huh?"

[Jerric Mason]

Jay had started munching on food but took breaks between bites to answer that question "Oh you know normal stuff, it's weird going back to the no mag world between semesters. Kinda hard to relate and stuff, parents try but..." he shrugged as he ate a strip of bacon.

"But I kept busy, practiced with a local football team to stay in shape. I'm a pretty decent receiver apparently which I mean theres a lot of overlap with there with quidditch and quodpod."

Jay paused a bit to eat some eggs and took a big drink of orange juice "What about you man? Do anything fun?"

[Cian]

"Just a grand-ol-time in the N-Y-C," he said with a rise indicative of his casual confidence. "Gettin' into clubs, havin' the time of my life while I can, y'know? Never a dull moment out that way."

[Jerric Mason]

Jay finished his plate and breathed a heavy sigh of satisfaction, he was no stranger to the city life himself growing up mostly in Seattle but his family owning houses in Chicago and New York "Hey man sometime over break we should kick it, I've spent a lot of time in New York but it'd be a sick time getting to see it with a local. Could be dope to spend some break time with another wizard, family is nice and all but they dont really understand, feel me?"

[Cian]

"I getcha, might have to make a plan of it then. Well, if we get the chance'n all. Can figure it out later but you get in touch and I'll see if I can't swing by next time. Sound 'lright to you?"

[Jerric Mason]

"Yeah man, you excited for the new school year? A lot of big stuff goes down in fifth year, shit ton of dances and we got those big tests that like decode our futures and all that." The waitress came and cleared his plates and Jay gave her a smile and a nod as she did before turning back to regard Cian and take a drink of orange juice.

[Cian]

"Eh, guess we're headin' into the year that's gonna separate those who've proven themselves apart from those who haven't," he said, glancing at the waitress as she walked into the back. "Any plans of your won this year?"

[Jerric Mason]

Jay smiled as he sat back, slinging his arm over the back of the chair. His posture and easy smile showed contentment, an emotion he didnt feel very frequently but allowed on occasion "Same plan as every year, do my best and get a little better." Kay had larger over arching goals for life obviously but he took things year by year.

[Cian]

"Right, no big plans from the likes of us eh?" he said with a bit of a grin. "Thinkin' though, I've a mind for something fun this year. Not sure what yet though, figure we've only got so much time left and there's still so much to see, yea? Wonder what secrets are up and around. Thinkin' I might take a few more looks this year."

[Jerric Mason]

That caused Jay to quirk an eyebrow and a mischievous light twinkled in his eye as he leaned forward putting his elbows on the table "Well that certainly does sound interesting. Have any thing in particular in mind?"

[Cian]

"Not quite sure," leaning forward her propped up his head in his palms with his elbows against the table. "Figure the inspiration o' being around the place again might inspire me or somethin'."

[Jerric Mason]

Jay nodded along "yeah man I feel you, let me know if you wanna get up to some trouble, there are hella secrets in that school. Itd be pretty lit to experience some shit that'll make a dank story."

[Cian]

Cian gave a short nod, a conspiratorial smirk, and then slipped from the table.

He'd go do something, somewhere, probably? Free spirits man.
