Story Points

Postby Rahvin » Sun Nov 10, 2019 9:01 am

Starting on Day Two, player characters will have access to Story Points. For each player character, the player's pool will receive one Story Point and the Game Master pool will receive one Story Point; essentially, this will give a total of two points between the two which will be passed back and forth for each character. At the beginning of each session, this total will return to one point in the player character's pool and one in the Game Master's pool.

Players and Game Masters both may spend Story Points as per page 28 and page 29 of the Genesys Core Rules.

The "Luck and Deus Ex Machina" rule is extended to include small bits of setting information; a player may spend a Story Point and make a statement about the setting which is not contradicted by existing canon - for example, "Philip Ignatieus was the inventor of the Cantis jinx" - and it becomes true to the canon of the game. If another character is present, they may spend a Story Point to counter that statement - for example, "No silly, the Cantis jinx was first cast by Horatio Cornelius in 1542!" - and it will become the true statement. This may continue until no character present is willing to spend a Story Point on the matter. If an NPC is present, they may use the Game Master's Story Points from one of the participating characters to attempt to counter a claim (though we will use this sparingly).

Additionally, at the end of a session, we will calculate points remaining in player character Story Point pools. Depending on the amount of total points, various events may occur during the first day of the next session and impacting primarily those characters who have Story Points remaining.
