This is invigorating? (Xanthe & Arlington)

Xanthe usually got picked last for these types of things. That wasn't necessarily just because of her reputation... at least not when it came to potions. She just didn't have much talent for it. But she *had* somehow managed to get a little more friendly with Arlington recently, and so this time she actually found herself a partner without having the teacher assign her one out of pity.

She was eager to impress upon her new partner that she was in fact quite capable and that he had made a good choice.

"I'll go find good ingredients to use!"

And she stormed off to the cabinet before he could give her some pointers on what to look for. Shame really, since Xanthe had only the most basic grasp of alchemy and wasn't likely to notice anything amiss...

...except she did. Not due to any particular skill, her strange eyes just noticed a slightly different coloration to some of the ingredients, which were discarded. The ones she came back with should be perfectly useable.

"Oh, these are nice and fresh. Good work X." Arlington sorted the ingredients, quickly. "Let's see..."

Potions wasn't a subject he paid much attention to. He did well in Hdrbology, but that had a lot to do with the wood gathering he did for his grandfather. He read over the instructions in the textbook, asking Xanthe to hand him each component as they were called for.

"We add the Wormwood Infusion to the Honeywater...." He paused, cocking his head to one side as the mixture changed color. "That looks like grandpa's tonic.... Peppermint... Vervain Infusion... Yes, that's definitely what this is. He has me finish making it for him every morning. But, he always started it."

Soon, the concoction fused into it's proper color and texture.

"There. I think we have it."

"Do you think," she hesitated, "...it's safe to drink? We're not supposed to test it, are we?"

The professor makes his way, after seeing the two of you complete your potion set. He gives you all a quick glance. "Ahh yes, another one of my potentials. Alrle, Xee..." He glances down at the concoction inside the vial and takes a small wiff. "Hmm...a bit strong on the mint, but the potency is still there. Less of a eager hand next time, Arle. Xee, you got some good eyes on you. Keep it up, miss." He pets the cat closely and smiles. "If you are eager to have that rush now, Xee, you are more than welcome to have some. Just don't come crying to me if you crash by the end of the class, haha!" With that, he steps away from the two of you and back to his desk.

"Grandpa usually ends his mornings with deep meditation." he nodded. "The type that requires lying down on his couch."
