"My grandfathers beard was never that long, so that's fine" Layla took the hand, giggling "you kind of look like that famous wizard.... Gandalf? That's the name I think. Is that any better?"

''Gandalf's robes were either grey or white...I guess this costume is inspired by Diney's Merlin''

He glanced around to find a spot on the dance floor

''Care for a dance?''

There was a clear lighting up of the girls eyes at that suggestion.

"Um...can you dance in those? It looks tricky! If you can then hell yeah! I love dancing. I'm no good at it but I love it."

He chuckled ''My dancing might be limited to an elaborate wiggle but it'll be on tempo"

"But you're...some kind of Disney wizard. That means you'll naturally know how to dance, right?" Layla laughed, letting Sylv lead her out to the dance floor.

"Oh good, I wasn't sure if I had scared you off or not."

Fitz typically wore nice clothing, but usually with...disdain, almost. His hair was usually ruffled and tie askew, but now it was combed back, and with robes tailored to look as if they had belonged to a suit-coat. When everything came together he would actually look...presentable?

"Whoo" Fitz lets out a low whistle at some of the outfits and costumes that the others have gotten into. "They keep going more extreme each year. Anyways..." Fitz offers his arm to Xanthe. "Shall we?"
She was relieved to see he had in fact shown up... it would've sucked if the whole thing had been a joke after all. But that didn't mean there was suddenly no awkwardness or anything. Still, she took his arm, as one was supposed to do when it was offered, and nodded.
Fitz led him his date to the floor. To be honest, his attempts at dancing were more enthusiastic swaying, but he seems to be enjoying himself.

"I'm glad you came." Fitz peers around the Hall. "Thanks." A small bit of red creeps into his pale face.

''PG-13 dancing...it's mostly just rythmic hops''

On the dance floor he would make his case

Layla's dancing was pretty simple, basic body movements. More swaying to the music than actually dancing, but she still loved it. It was obvious by her face that it was one of the few things she truly loved in life, maybe even more than books!

"Don't hurt yourself hopping too much old wizard" she managed to say over the music, laughing.

Layla laughed.

"What, was the music less painful back in your day?"

"Hey Cian!" Hecate waved at her House mate with a smile. "You look good."

The girls were sitting next to each other, so Hecate was across from Cian diagonally.

"Hey bad boy." Grace smirked at Cian. "You struck out?" She asked cheekily, before offering a glass of punch to him.
"And you look as positively stunning as ever," he said with a casual smirk toward Hecate, glancing then quickly to Grace. Chuckling, with half his heart, it was a placeholder chuckle, "And I did, I suppose, but that's the risk when you risk it all, right?"

Mini-Event: Trick or Treat!

It's early in the night when the first of the trouble starts. In a school full of teenagers - magical teenagers at that - small vendettas are repaid for little bursts of magic. Nothing dangerous, mind you, but little almost harmless pranks. Or, maybe

OOC Mechanics:
Name a target; this can either be a player character or a non-player character. Pick a simple jinx or hex; nothing too complicated, you don't want to hurt anyone (too much), you're just looking to embarrass.

I Put a Spell on You!: Roll Jinx & Hexes + a Characteristic of your choice (give us a good reason why it applies here) on an Average difficulty.

On a success, your little trick works and your target gets embarassed - they receive 1 Setback Dice on all Popularity rolls until the Holiday Break. If you roll a Triumph, they instead receive -1 to their Popularity until the Holiday Break. Advantages can be spent for a Boost die on the next roll in the mini-event; GMs will spend Threat for a Setback die on the next roll in the mini-event.

On a failure, your trick doesn't work - but you still cast the spell, it just doesn't hit the intended target. Proceed to the next step; if you roll for it, upgrade the difficulty once. Advantages can still be spent for a Boost die on the next roll and GMs will spend Threat for a Setback die on the next roll.

Sneak Sneak Sneak: Do you care if you get caught? No? You're done - and your house is down ten house points! It was worth it, right? Wait, you don't want to get caught? Very well! Roll Stealth + Agility on an Average difficulty, applying any extra dice from the outcome of the previous roll.

On a success, you manage to get away with it! Good job! For each Advantage rolled, you receive +1 Boost die on Popularity rolls until Holiday Break as you brag to your friends and they think it was a cool prank - even if it missed your intended target. For each Threat rolled, you receive 1 Strain.

On a failure, a teacher catches you - ten points from your house! You can still brag to your friends, receiving a +1 Boost die on Popularity rolls until Holiday Break for each Advantage rolled. Threats instead generate 2 Strain. On a Despair, your house still loses points - but you find yourself having to serve Detention in the coming weeks...

But it was worth it, right?

Note: Please list that your post is part of this mini-event when you post it up.

"Oh well, I think it suits you. The lonely bad boy who turns all the other heads." She winked at him, and noticed a pair dancing awkwardly.

"Hey, why don't you two catch up. I have to get something done." She walked swiftly among the throng of people on the dance floor, pulling her wand, and pointed at john and his "date". It was the vice-captain of the dueling team, though Grace couldn't be bothered to recall her name.

"Maximus Tangentus." She whispered as a brief bit of magic shot from her wand, hitting the captain on the back of her head. Her hair was straightened, no doubt painstakingly... but not anymore. It seemed the locks have awakened to life and they started untangling themselves like a madman, and John was obviously panicking.

Grace giggled and moved back to the others, her hands resting on both their shoulders.

"C'mon you two, let's dance."

John was dressed up in a full stereotypical wizard outfit, complete with a white beard and a robe, while Melissa had just come as in some street clothes, not being bound by tradition. Her blue and white hair formed continued to tangle up. Not expecting something like this, she quickly ran off the dance floor and into the bathroom to readjust herself, leaving John all alone on the dance floor, stunned at what happened.

Suppressing any urge to laugh, as he had his own PINK hair malfunction to care about, Mischa directed himself and Trent across to dance close to and then around John.

Hopefully reducing his confusion and totally not adding to it.

Fitz smiles a little as pranks start to be played on people.

"Come on people, you have to manage expectations." He shakes his head and tries to meet Xanthe's gaze. "Do you see me spiking the punch? No. Once you set an expectation you never live up to it."

Fitz tries to put a hand on his date's back while they Dance.

"I'm not about to say no," he said.

Cian, of course, cast a glance over toward Nat and her date. Shrugged, then offered his hand to the lady yet sitting, Hecate. Seeing the lady to her feet he offered his assent, with a cocky grin, and proceeded to follow Grace and her date to the dance floor.

Arlington watched for a bit. He was amused by what happened to John's date, but he wasn't really enjoying watching everyone else with a date. He was making his way to the door when he spotted the Weisz sisters. They were off to the side, clustered together, pointing and snickering at everyone dancing. Arlie didn't mind being looked down, but he didn't like seeing others treated that way.

Withdrawing his wand and keeping it low, he waved it in Wendy's direction. Wanda and Wylda followed her lead, anyway.

"Tarantallegra." he whispered.

To his satisfaction, Wendy suddenly felt the uncontrollable urge to dance. The jinx hadn't gone unnoticed, however. a few teachers and a student or two were staring at him. But, it was completely worth it, as everyone else was staring at the sisters.
